The “UFO curse” still remains unbroken

The following prophetic statement was originally published in James Moseley’s newsletter, SAUCER SMEAR, on October 10, 1983.  This is also known as The UFO curse.

Here it is:

The last will and testament of Philip J. Klass.

(QUOTE)

“To ufologists who publicly criticize me – – or who even think unkind thoughts about me in private, I do hereby leave and bequeath – – The UFO curse.

No matter how long you live, you will never know any more about UFOs than you know today.

You will never know any more about what UFOs really are, or where they come from.

You will never know any more about what the U.S. Government really knows about UFOs than you know today.

As you lie on your own death-bed you will be as mystified about UFOs as you are today.  And you will remember this curse.”

(UNQUOTE)

Definitely, something to ponder about.

Whether he was a “spook” or not, we must admit that his “curse” still remains today, unbroken.

Philip J. Klass was a long-time senior editor of highly respected AVIATION WEEK & SPACE TECHNOLOGY magazine (for 34 years, from 1952 to 1986).

My thanks to David L. who brought this up as a comment to my last article:

We may not be alone in this universe – – but what does it really mean?

(By the way, I had a high respect for Philip J. Klass, even though I did not always agree with his conclusions.  Phil was to me a very friendly, kind, polite and humble person who was seen frequently attending many UFO conferences and mingling freely with folks during the hey days of Ufology.)

  1. Once a spook, always a spook, even in death. Of course he is entirely wrong, which he was most of his public life playing the UFO State Debunker, and honestly, he didn’t even do that well. I’m not sure how much inside information he knew, perhaps some no doubt. The study and research of off-world technology is very compartmentalized, for good reason I think. In a certain way he is correct that the study of this subject can be extremely complex, with perhaps nobody being able to truly understand the physics, calculus and science (and paranormal science) of this subject. The human race may never reach that potential, but we will keep trying to learn as much as can about it. With Klass out of the way, it is much easier to do research. I wish I could say something nice about him, but I cannot.

  2. He was correct and his “curse” also applies to the government. They may have very solid evidence that UFOs are real, but they still know as little as anyone else about where they are from and who they are.
