AN URGENT PLEA TO THE GOVERNOR OF NEVADA, WRITTEN BY RACHEL RESIDENT REGARDING AN EVENT THAT MAY OR MAY NOT TAKE PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 20, 2019 – – a post from Dreamland Resort:
Dear Governor Sisolak,
As a part-time resident of Rachel, Nevada, I am writing this letter to you to express my concerns regarding the “Storm Area 51” event next month.
Last week the Lincoln County Commissioner granted the permits for this event.
Rachel has zero infrastructure: no police department, no fire, no hospital, no stores and no gas station.
It only has an Inn which is planning the event.
If someone needs serious medical attention the only way out is a casevac airlift to Las Vegas.
The sheriff is over 50 miles away in the small town of Alamo.
The sheriff already expressed he does not have the resources to handle this event.
I hear the security for this will be handled by the friends and family of the Inn who are the promoters.
Patrons are going to show up with empty gas tanks and nowhere near the amount of food and water needed.
In my opinion, the permits should have been rejected on these grounds.
The Inn will run out of food at some point and I feel this will turn into an ugly rioting mob.
I fear for the safety of my property and for the residents.
There will be no way to call for assistance as the limited cell service will be over loaded.
So with all this in mind, I humbly ask you to overturn the commissioners verdict and cancel the permits.
Thank you for your time, Governor.
JEFFREY GREGOS IS ASKING THE PUBLIC TO SUPPORT THEM BY WRITING TO THE GOVERNOR:
His next letter will be one of protest to the Lincoln County Commissioner and one to the Sheriff.
He asks everyone to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office:
Or, the Board of Commissioners:
Bevan Lister – District B (775) 962-1283 (cellphone) or (775) 962-5541
Mailing Address: P.O. Box 291, Pioche, NV 89043
HERE IS AN UPDATE FROM JOERG ARNU OF DREAMLAND RESORT:
From Joerg Arnu, representing the residents of Rachel – – August 30, 2019:
“And here we are.
Only 3 weeks out and the only visible sign of preparations at the LITTLE A’LE’INN is some halfhearted grading in one corner of their lot.
No stage, no lights no fence, no preparations on the designated camp sites, no bands on the web site.
We, the locals, are preparing for the worst but we hope it will go the way many grand plans here in Rachel tend to go.
Except for the LITTLE A’LE’INN: They charge big bucks for nonrefundable camp sites, media tickets and vendor spots.
So they will come out ahead no matter what.
Think about it, why should they even bother.
They make all their money upfront. I say this has all the signs to become Fyre Festival 2.0.
Well, the real reason for this disaster is some 20-year old punk, a greedy business in the community and an incompetent board of Lincoln County commissioners.
I did go as far as taking it up to the office of NV Governor Sisolak.
Not surprisingly…. crickets.
I feel at this point my time is best spent building up defenses for my properties.
If anyone wants to run with it, more power to them.
Just to put things in perspective:
While the LITTLE A’LE’INN has already made upward of $100k selling public land for camp sites (yes, I said PUBLIC LAND) most of us residents will end up spending $1,000 and more each to upgrade our property defenses.
Not to mention our time and hard work.”
EVENTS CANCELLED!! – – September 10, 2019.
